Officials in Elbert, Garfield, Mesa, and Rio Blanco counties have joined a suit originally filed by Douglas and El Paso counties that challenges two Colorado immigration laws, which they claim have stemmed their ability to effectively confront the flood of migrants in their state. A young woman from New York was paralyzed at a concert when a singer attempted to crowd surf and landed on her, leaving her only able to move her arms and communicate via text. Bird Piché, 24, was struck by the singer, John Floreani of Australian punk rock band Trophy Eyes, during a stage dive at a Buffalo gig. Despite initially seeming innocuous in video footage, the incident resulted in a catastrophic spinal cord injury, leading to extensive surgery. A fundraiser has been set up to support her, with the band making a $5,000 donation and expressing deep regret over the incident.
