A recent study has revealed the incomes necessary for families to live comfortably across the United States - and the stark contrast in the cost of living between states is startling.  The study revealed that in the most expensive states, families need nearly $300,000 to simply live 'comfortably.' The least expensive state requires about half that salary - still over $100,000.  Meanwhile, the average annual salary in the US is $59,428, or $28.34 per hour, as of May 2024.  

Hundreds of fans had turned out to see Cedar High School take on local rivals Dixie High in a highly-charged end-of-season lacrosse play off when the young mother had her trigger pulled. It was then followed by 17-year-old Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastava announcing she too was stepping down because her personal values 'no longer fully align with the direction of the organization.'

The graduation ceremony for the historically black college's College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences was shut down before the keynote address at the Cramton Auditorium in Washington DC. Relatives of some of the graduates were seen on video chanting and smashing glass as the ceremony began on Thursday.

Ella Riley Adler lost her life on Saturday afternoon off the coat of Key Biscayne's Nixon Beach, when a boater collided with her before speeding away from the scene. The suspected driver of the boat has not yet been arrested, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said the boater was last seen speeding away from the scene heading west from Nixon Beach. Adler was reportedly celebrating a friend's birthday at the time of the crash, and a first responder told WSVN they arrived on the scene to find 'a lot of blood in the water.' Tributes have poured in for the talented Florida teen after her tragic death, with her family saying that 'when she walked into a room, everyone was drawn to her.'

The only child of Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake and Slack co-founder Stewart Butterfield, the 16-year-old made headlines when she went vanished last month. Mint, who uses they/them pronouns, disappeared from Fake's weekend home in affluent Bolinas, northwest of San Francisco, on April 22. The mother had brought Mint to the weekend home so they could get away from a 26-year-old man - Christopher Dizefalo-  who goes by Kio and has now been arrested for her disappearance. Fake told The Daily Beast that Mint's downward spiral began when she turned 16 and started going to punk and emo clubs in the East Bay.

Celine Dion emotionally wiped tears from her eyes while dancing in the stands at The Rolling Stones concert in Las Vegas over the weekend. The 56-year-old music legend - who recently opened up about her surprise appearance at The Grammys amid her battle with stiff person syndrome -  was in the stands at the massive show which took place at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday. She could be seen moving and grooving to some of the English rock bands biggest hits like Paint It Black, Sympathy For The Devil, and You Can't Always Get What You Want before closing it out with (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Celine seemed to be in awe of 80-year-old Keith and the rest of the band as she could be seen wiping tears from her face with her hands at one point during the show.

Auditions for a hotly contested spot on the cheer squad representing the team, which has thrice won the Super Bowl in the 2020s, are blowing up on Instagram. On May 3, judges welcomed finalists for in-person tryouts at the Chief's home venue or Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. While just under 70 hopefuls were invited to the in-person finals, only 34 were revealed to have made the cut for this year's Chief Cheer. In addition to showing off their physical acumen, finalists were required to sit for interviews and give 'mock speeches' to show off their grasp on topics like the history of the Chiefs and their general knowledge of football.

Paul Castle, a Seattle-based animator and influencer, posted a video last week describing the unpleasant incident in which he walked into a restaurant where a waiter very quickly approached him to begin his questioning. The waiter, Castle said, told him no pets were allowed in the restaurant, 'only service dogs.' Castle explained that his pup, a large yellow lab, is his service dog, to which the waiter replied with some alleged attitude: 'emotional support dog?'

A TikTok user captured a video of her younger sister removing a reptile from an event in Arizona. Sandra Leos (@sandraleos22) posted a video last week of her smiling sister holding a gopher snake and carrying it far away from a party. The TikToker wrote that she and her sister were attending a wedding in Arizona at the time of the incident. Multiple wedding guests laughed, recorded videos, and took pictures on their phones of the woman while she was carrying the snake.

Tempers flared after the two teams crossed paths in the lobby of the Riyadh Hilton Hotel in Saudi Arabia, leading to a violent confrontation that overshadowed the pre-fight media day ahead of Saturday's undisputed world heavyweight title fight. Footage that quickly circulated on social media showed Fury Snr lashing out with his head towards Stanislav Stepchuk, who was wearing Usyk's team tracksuit. Fury Snr had to be restrained after security stepped in to prevent any further confrontation and was pictured with blood pouring from a wound on his forehead. He had become embroiled after members of Usyk's camp repeatedly roared their man's name at Fury's entourage. The rest of the angry crowd showed restraint.

Zhang Jinxia, 28, was feeding his 17-month-old daughter as she sat in her stroller when she suddenly fell sideways, narrowly missing the tiled floor before he quickly grabbed her by her jumper. With the bowl of baby food still in his hand, Mr Jinxia pats his daughters back as she begins to cry from the shock. Luckily the baby was not hurt but he decided to push the pram away and keep her safe on his lap instead. The video was captured on May 4 in Hefei, southern China , and went viral on Chinese social media.

Ashley Deese(left), the daughter of Theresa Jones, 56, (right) said police had been stumped over her mother's disappearance, and criticized their investigation that was seemingly solved once medium Carolyn Clapper stepped in.  Ashley claimed medium Carolyn Clapper was able to provide eerily accurate details leading to the body, but remains unsatisfied as cops never spoke to her and ruled the death as an accidental drowning caused by methamphetamines. Clapper said: 'There would be a log, she kept showing me this pronounced log, a very big log in the woods.'
